Studio Gear
Outboard Equipment: At PlayTalk Studios, we employ a 32-channel digital mixer from Presonus to meticulously monitor and track our sessions. This versatile setup enables us to record multiple instruments simultaneously, making it particularly advantageous for bands. If you require additional instruments, we offer a diverse range available for rent, ensuring we cater to your specific session requirements.
Microphones: We prioritize capturing vocals with quality and consistency at PlayTalk Studios. To achieve this, we rely on the industry-standard Neumann U-87 microphone, renowned for its exceptional performance. However, our microphone collection extends beyond that, encompassing a wide array of options suited for diverse sound objectives and recording contexts. Our dedicated in-house engineer is readily available to guide you through our selection, ensuring you discover the ideal microphone that perfectly complements your unique sound.
Instruments: Should you need instruments for your session, we provide a variety of options for rent. Our current lineup features instruments such as the Mitchell T333CE-BST Solid Top Acoustic-Electric Guitar, the Fender Player Stratocaster Black Solid Body Electric Guitar, the Roland JD-XI, and the Yamaha XF6 keyboard. Furthermore, we will soon be expanding our rental offerings to include drums. To secure your desired instrument, kindly remember to reserve and rent it during the checkout process prior to your session.

The Team
Christopher Botta, Founder, Artist, Audio Engineer, Producer
Christopher Botta owns and manages PlayTalk Studios, located in Tempe, Arizona. His dream has always been to have a commercial studio to call his own as an artist who has been making music for 10 years.
He has been to many studios throughout the country and has gotten to experience how different rooms, equipment, engineers, and vibes all play into how a record comes out.
Our Studio Rules
- 4 guest capacity when solo artists book.
- 8-person capacity, including bandmates when bands book.
- Please respect the equipment and only touch the board if you know how to use it. Our engineer is always at the session and will adjust any desired levels.
- No drinks on the studio desk.
- No soliciting outside for too long unless smoking (please be respectful to the neighbors)
- Bring your instruments if you plan to record with them. We rent out our electric drums for an additional $50, keyboards for $10 and guitars for an additional $20 a session. Add ons available at checkout.
- No drugs or fighting in the studio
- We do not take responsibility or promote violence in any way, so please keep away from our studio
- Enjoy your time and make yourself feel at home
- Kids are welcome and can watch tv in the lobby during session
- Please have your beat or instrument track ready when coming to the session. We want to make sure you leave with something to show!
- Do not stand behind the speakers
- We are 100% wheelchair/handicap accessible
- NO SMOKING INSIDE BUILDING
- Sessions booked can have the volume as loud as they please as long as it isn’t at a level of damaging the speakers.
